The Role & The Opportunity
The University of Pittsburgh, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, invites applications for the position of Executive Associate Athletic Director, Sports Performance & Student Athlete Support Services. This is a premier leadership opportunity to provide strategic oversight for the comprehensive health, well-being, and development of Pitt’s student-athletes.
This executive will serve as a senior advisor to the Director of Athletics and will be responsible for leading the development and advancement of all sports performance and student-athlete support programs. The successful candidate will lead multiple teams, foster key relationships across campus, and ensure a best-in-class experience that champions the holistic development of every student-athlete.
Core Responsibilities & Scope
This role has direct strategic and operational oversight for the critical areas that impact the daily lives and long-term success of Pitt’s student-athletes.
- Develop and advance the strategic priorities for the department’s comprehensive sports performance and student-athlete support programs.
- Provide direct oversight and management for key units: Athletic Training, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Mental Health Counseling, and Student-Athlete Support Services.
- Lead budget development, personnel management, and contract oversight for all supervised areas.
- Serve as a key liaison between the athletic department and internal/external stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.
- Foster a culture of belonging and trust that embraces all people and perspectives within the student-athlete community.
Department Leadership
You will serve as a key member of the executive team, working in close collaboration with the Director of Athletics to advance the department’s championship culture.

Highly accomplished and nationally respected, Allen Greene was appointed Director of Athletics in October of 2024. Greene is a lead figure in the management of NIL programs and is focused on positioning the Panthers to win ACC and national championships through a commitment to providing a world-class student-athlete experience.

Brant Ust, Senior Deputy Athletic Director, Competitive Excellence
A former professional baseball player with extensive experience in athletic administration, Brant Ust serves as a key administrator for the department, overseeing broad operational functions. His leadership is integral to the daily success and strategic alignment of Pitt’s internal support units. This role reports directly to him.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader with extensive experience in collegiate athletics and a passion for holistic student-athlete development.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience leading and managing multiple units at the NCAA Division I level, specifically within sports medicine or sports performance.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success as a senior-level athletic administrator with strong personnel and budget management skills.
- Background: Experience as a collegiate or professional athlete or coach is highly valued.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and campus partners.
- Commitment: Must successfully complete PA Act 153 clearances and background checks as a condition of employment.
